The graduates of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology program acquires theoretical and practical skills, which will be able to develop independently and apply independently to scientific and creative activities in the field. They will also acquire knowledge of medical microbiology, antimicrobial pharmacotherapy, design of new antimicrobial drugs, molecular diagnostics and epidemiology, proteomics and genomics. Students will be able to formulate scientific hypotheses independently, apply appropriate procedures and solutions to achieve the objectives of the solution and, in particular, critically evaluate and discuss the results obtained, including their presentation. The graduate understands the broader context of the problem studied, is able to establish interdisciplinary cooperation in the context of his scientific work.
al exam in fields of Physics, Mathematics applied in Medicine and Pharmacy focusing on the previous study, theses, and expectations for the future doctoral study.
Presentation of the proposed doctoral project.
Part of the exam is conducted in the English language to assess the knowledge (at least C1 level is required).
Conditions of Admission
A necessary but not sufficient requirement for acceptance to the doctoral study program is a completed master's degree.
Criteria for the Evaluation Exams
1. Professional knowledge level – reviewed on answers to questions stated in General content of entrance exam (max. up to 10 points).
2. Submitted doctoral project – evaluation of project complexity, modern methodological approaches to solution, and the continuity of the project on topics already discussed by the Subject Area Board (max. up to 10 points).
The minimum admission limit is 20 points out of 30.

Graduate of DSP Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology are highly qualified experts, who are versatile for further work at an academia or research with a biomedical focus. They obtain a detailed knowledge of medical and clinical microbiology, antimicrobial pharmacotherapy, molecular epidemiology, genomic and proteomic methods in biomedical research. This knowledge is applied during research work in microbiological or pharmaceutical laboratory, as well as in epidemiological departments. The students acquire the skills and methodology used in biomedical research and are able to apply methods of phenotypic and genotypic diagnostics of microbes, techniques of molecular diagnostics and epidemiology. In addition, they obtain overview of strategies in pharmaceutical design The graduates can independently and critically evaluate new findings in accordance with evidence-based principles of medicine, propose a scientific experiment to solve scientific questions of a medical microbiology nature, prepare a grant application for research support, manage a small team, interpret, discuss and present the results of the scientific work.
