      Entrance examination: single round – oral interview

       

      Content and subject matter of entrance examination:

      1.       Discussion of submitted proposal for PhD dissertation (with the discussion focusing on the topic of the prospective doctoral dissertation and testing the candidate’s research skills): 0–30 points

      2.       Assessment of the applicant’s previous academic activities in the field of the PhD study and specialist knowledge: 0–30 points

       

      The dissertation proposal, which should be 5-8 pages long, should demonstrate the author’s thorough knowledge of the relevant field (based on the applicant’s academic publications and academic activities). The proposal must contain a clear formulation of the research topic and the resulting goals of the dissertation, present an adequate methodological basis for research, and a clear declaration pf the scientific and any practical benefit of the proposal. A specimen form for proposal outlines is available for download from the website of the Department of Psychology of the CU Faculty of Arts.

       

      The thematic focus of dissertation proposals must be based on the applicant’s own suggestion, which must reflect current issues in psychological theory, methodology or practice and is in accordance with the research intentions of the Department of Psychology of the CU Faculty of Arts and the prospective supervisor.


      Applicants must consult the prospective supervisor from the Subject Area Board about their chosen topic. If required, it is possible to consult the Chair of the relevant Subject Area Board.       Graduates are experts in the latest and scientifically supported procedures in social psychology and work psychology/clinical psychology and health psychology with a critical view of their content and especially their methodological contexts. They have demonstrated profound knowledge of both the field and the methodology of their major topic of interest, which was the topic of their dissertation project. They have a grounding in the current issues of psychology as well as the ability to identify methods of investigation and to use research results for practical applications. Using the acquired knowledge and research experience, they are prepared for independent creative work in basic and applied research requiring the most demanding qualifications that contribute to the development of a given area of psychology.
