The language of instruction is English. The annual tuition fee is 25,000 CZK.

Entrance examination: single round – oral interview

Entrance examinations for all applicants will be held remotely via video conference.

Depending on the topic of the dissertation project proposal, all three parts of the oral interview will be held in one of these languages: German, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish.

Content and subject matter of entrance examination

1. Discussion of submitted proposal for PhD dissertation: 0–30 points
2. Assessment of the applicant’s previous studies, research, and other academic activities: 0–15 points
3. Assessment of the applicant’s knowledge of secondary literature: 0–15 points

Recommended areas for dissertation topics:

German Language, Danish Language, Norwegian Language, Swedish Language, Finnish Language, Dutch Language, German Literature (we particularly welcome topics in German-speaking literature in the Czech Lands), Danish Literature, Norwegian Literature, Swedish Literature, Finnish Literature, Dutch Literature

Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study programme.

proof of language competence, i.e. scan of any of the following documents of language competence in English is a mandatory attachment:

• secondary school-leaving examination with a curriculum realised in English;
• proof of completion of any university degree programme accredited in English;
• proof of completion of a language examination in English at B2 level or higher, completed as part of any university course;
• proof of successful completion of any certified examination in English at B2 level or higher according to the list below, whereby no certified examinations other than those listed above will be taken into account:
