      Orthopaedics is an independent surgical discipline dealing with diagnostics, prevention and treatment of congenital defects, acquired diseases, deformities and functional problems of the locomotive apparatus. Orthopaedics is taught at the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Pilsen as a separate discipline in the 5th year and is completed by an independent exam. The Orthopaedics degree program includes general and special orthopaedics including alloplasty, spondylosurgery, arthroscopy, orthopaedic oncology, paediatric orthopaedics and locomotive organ traumatology. The field of study of orthopaedics was accredited at the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Pilsen in 2011. It is an accreditation of a field of study with a standard length of study of 4 years. The aim of the study is to prepare graduates for independent work in the field of basic and clinical research.       Přijímací zkouška probíhá formou ústního pohovoru, v němž jsou prověřovány především odborné a jazykové znalosti a připravenost uchazeče k samostatné vědecké práci ve zvoleném oboru. Přijímací pohovory jsou ústní:
      1. anglický jazyk (0-20 bodů)
      2. odborné téma (0-40 bodů)
      3. zkouška z oboru (0-30 bodů)
      4. publikační, přednášková činnost (0-10 bodů)

      Pro úspěšné složení přijímací zkoušky je nutné dosažení bodové hranice minimálně 70 bodů.

      Pro přijetí ke studiu do kombinované formy musí uchazeč získat minimální počet bodů pro úspěšné složení přijímací zkoušky, který se rovná minimálnímu počtu bodů nutnému pro přijetí. Minimální počet bodů pro přijetí stanoví děkan na základě výsledků přijímacích zkoušek.

      Graduates of the study program have completed their studies at the Faculty of Medicine and acquired basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology of the locomotive organs. Doctoral studies in the field of orthopedics allow him to develop specific theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a chosen topic within orthopedics and traumatology. Theoretical preparation will enable the graduate to work independently in scientific literature, orientation in scientific literature with critical acceptance of published data. Based on the acquired knowledge, the graduate is able to determine a hypothesis and a realistic plan for its verification and gain new knowledge and procedures for practice based on their own results. The graduate will present the results at scientific conferences, symposia and publish them in professional journals.
