Functionally defined discipline that studies regulatory functions of organs in response and adaptation of specific systems of the organism to changes in external and internal environment in normal and pathological states. There is dominance of transition from studies of indirect manifestations of certain functions to studies of their own functional and regulatory mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level in order to use the acquired knowledge for the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of human diseases.
The study program is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Physiology of the Acatemy od Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Doctoral (Ph.D.) study programme in Human Physiology and Pathophysiology provides introduction into the methodology of scientific work with special interest at the characterization of function and regulatory mechanisms of the human body in healthy and diseased organism. Study of molecular mechanisms predominates with the aim to use theoretical findings in the prevention, therapy, diagnostics and rehabilitation of human diseases and disorders. Standard and international alignment is confirmed by the state examination in the field of specialization and the defence of thesis which reflects graduant’s knowledge in his specialization, level of mastering modern methodology, and his invention in the solution of scientific problems. Program is linked to many fields of clinical medicine. The standard length of study is four (4) years.
