The entrance examination is a one-round interview, which will mainly cover the issues of the planned dissertation and the candidate's knowledge within the field of expertise of the given study programme. The admission interview includes a brief (maximum five-minute) presentation in English during which the candidate will discuss his/her future PhD project. This presentation must be made in person, without a pre-prepared presentation. The questions of the committee will follow this presentation and may be asked in English, and the candidate should also answer them in English. In addition to the preliminary title, the project annotation should contain a brief description of the overall theme of the project, the planned methodological approaches and its expected SCIENTIFIC contribution.

In the entrance examination, the candidate must demonstrate professional knowledge and aptitude for independent scientific work.

The examination is marked with a maximum of 100 points. The evaluation includes the quality of the dissertation project, its feasibility also with regard to the form of study and the way of its presentation. Furthermore, the ability to communicate in the English language, and in the Czech language for Czech study programmes, is also assessed during the examination.

In order to be admitted to study in the combined form, a candidate must obtain a minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination, which is equal to the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination for both full-time and combined forms is set at 50 points. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is set by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examination, taking into account the expected number of applicants to be admitted and the economic and capacity possibilities of the Faculty.
