The entrance examination is a one-round interview, conducted primarily in English in the form of a presentation and discussion of questions set by the committee. For the entrance exam, the candidate will prepare a presentation of the proposed topic of the dissertation lasting about 10 minutes. The admissions committee evaluates this presentation, the relevance of the topic, the connection to the issues addressed within the field, the scientific contribution and the candidate's ability to critically reflect on professional issues related primarily to the proposed topic.
In the entrance examination, the candidate must demonstrate professional knowledge and aptitude for independent scientific work.
The examination is marked out of a maximum of 100 points. The evaluation includes the quality of the dissertation project, its feasibility also with regard to the form of study and the manner of its presentation. Furthermore, the ability to communicate in the English language, and in the Czech language for Czech study programmes, is also assessed during the examination.
In order to be admitted to study in the combined form, a candidate must obtain a minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination, which is equal to the minimum number of points required for admission.
The minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination for both full-time and combined forms is set at 50 points. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is set by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examination, taking into account the expected number of applicants to be admitted and the economic and capacity possibilities of the Faculty.
