The graduate masters the basic methodology of molecular biology and genetics, gene engineering, population genetics and microscopy, which is able to practice, apply and interpret in research, clinical practice or education. The graduate has a general overview of the basic statistical methods used in the evaluation of the results.The graduate demonstrated the ability of independent, creative and team scientific work, can process and interpret the results, and is able to present these results at the scientific forum in Czech and English. The graduate is fully acquainted with the rules of ethics of scientific work, rules and ethics associated with interpretation of results, handling of patients' data, and work with genetically modified organisms (GMO), principles of animal protection against cruelty and working in harmony with them. Study program without specialization.
The entrance examination takes the form of an interview in which professional and language skills are examined primarily as well as the readiness of candidates for independent scientific work in the chosen field. Interviews comprise of:
1. English language (0-20 points) - the applicant's ability to describe the proposed project in English and then discuss it.
2. Specialized topic (0-40 points) - the quality of the dissertation project and the level of preparation of its annotation, the relation of the submitted project to the focus of the intended supervisor and the financial aspect of the project.
3. Examination from the field (0-30 points) - the applicant's basic theoretical knowledge in relation to the dissertation topic and general overview.
4. Publications and lecturing activities (0-10 points).
At least 70 points are required for successful passing of the entrance interview.
In order to be admitted to the full-time study, an applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for admission is determined by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. To be admitted to the combined study, an applicant must obtain a minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination which equals to the minimum number of points required for admission.
Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study programme.
