The Art Education didactics Ph.D. study program supports areas of fine arts and its theory connected with the social science of education and didactics in a comprehensive realm of inquiry-based and international scientific approach. The Ph.D. program should strengthen the knowledge of art education and art reflection in the specialization of Art education and Creative arts majors thus being focused on the Art class didactics. The research area of the program then the main focus is to implement the model of reflective art which is targeted towards creative and inquiry-based art production which consequently leads towards the creation of methodologies and frameworks for didactic and pedagogical transformations in the fine and creative arts.

Program without specialization.

Applicants are required to submit a dissertation thesis research proposal (case study proposal) with their application, which represents comprehensive and concrete research focus of an inquiry based project which has all the formal necessities of a future thesis in terms of academic writing skill (citation norm and bibliography) and can also include visual elements such as illustrations related to the subject matter of the project proposal. The elementary knowledge of the selected literature is also a requirement. During the entrance exam applicants introduce their research projects to the committee, actively engage in a group discussion, during which the committee judges the professional prerequisites and knowledge of each applicant and their compatibility with the research program of the department of arts. Part of the discussion lead in English is necessary in order to judge the fluency and accuracy in terms of the use of academic language. A list of publications and previous research in the area is also assessed during the examination as well (maximum of three points).

Full completion of a master's degree programme in a similar field is a prerequisite for admission. The doctoral study programme builds on the study programme Teaching for Secondary Schools, Teaching of General Education Subjects for Primary and Secondary Schools - Art Education and on the equivalents of study programmes in teaching at foreign universities or colleges. In addition, to the Master's degree programmes of art faculties of Czech and foreign universities, or to the equivalents of other, content-related programmes of study in art or design disciplines of universities or art academies. The programme is also linked to master's programmes in theoretical disciplines related to its content, e.g. aesthetics, philosophy, art and film theory, art history and visual studies of domestic and foreign colleges and universities.

Evaluation Criteria: In order to be admitted to full-time study, an applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is determined by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination for full-time and combined forms is set at 7 out of 10 points.

Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study programme.
