The main objective of the study program special education is to prepare highly qualified staff for theoretical and fieldwork in the area of providing special education services in the widest possible range, according to the differentiated structure of the Czech study fields of special education (SSP – support for disabilities related to sight, hearing, physical or mental state, support for citizens with communication skill deficits, autistic spectrum disorders, behavioural disorders or support for people with social disadvantages) with special focus on the current issues of contemporary special education in the international context. The fundamental asset of the Ph.D. study in the field of special education is the preparation of specialists to succeed in independent scientific research projects, leading to their personal and career growth to enrich the scientific field of special education as a modern social science area.
Program without specialization.
The prerequisite for admission to the the doctoral study program special education is the completion of a master's degree programme in special education or psychology, or a university teaching qualification supplemented by an extension study in special education and successful completion of the entrance examination.
At the same time as submitting an application for admission to the doctoral programme, the applicant must submit a written research project. The discussion of the research project is part of the admission procedure. As a rule, the project has the following parts: definition of the problem to be addressed and basic concepts, summary of the current state of knowledge, aim of the work, outline of the methodology and procedure of the solution, expected results of the research, list of literature used.
Part of the entrance examination is to be able to present in a scientific debate a comprehensive basic professional overview in the field of special education and in their borderline disciplines, exceeding the requirements for the state final examination, to demonstrate linguistic aptitude in one of the world's foreign languages and to provide evidence for scientific work - participation in research, active performance at scientific conferences, professional publishing.
Evaluation Criteria: In order to be admitted to full-time study, an applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is determined by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination for full-time and combined forms is set at 7 out of 10 points.
Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study programme.

The aim of the doctoral study programme in Special Education is to prepare highly professionally qualified staff for theoretical and practical activities in the field of providing special education services in the broadest application concept, differentiated according to the structure of special education disciplines with a focus on current issues of contemporary special education in the international context. The fundamental benefit of the doctoral studies is the preparation of experts for independent scientific work, aimed at their personal professional growth in favour of special education as a modern scientific field.
