      Philosophy of Education teaches philosophy of pedagogy and education in relation to the history of philosophy and leading concepts in contemporary philosophy. Philosophy of Education is based in traditions of critical thought, philosophical anthropology, social and political philosophy, eco-pedagogy and critical pedagogy; it further reaches into other approaches to social science, such as cultural anthropolog, sociolinguistics, and sociology, with the aim of studying general problems of contemporary society. The goal of doctoral research is the scholarly preparation of individuals who stand out in their creative, critical, and conceptual thought, with interdisciplinary reach, and are able to develop Philosophy of Education and related fields. Graduates will be prepared to evaluate and conceptualize goals and strategies of education and pedagogy in scholarly and educational institutions and in the state sector.

      An essential part of the admission process is the entrance exam during which a committee judges the candidate's interest in the field of study and overall predispositions for future scientific work (e.g. use of the terminology, output hypothesis formulation, a suggestion of research methodology) in the field. All applicants have to submit a dissertation project proposal in writing with a maximum length of 10 pages in addition to their application. The topic of the project has to comply with the areas of interest within the area of educational philosophy. works. The proposal should also include a brief description of the topic, hypotheses formulation, research objectives and questions, the proposal of specific methodologies, data gathering, an overview of domestic (Czech) and foreign literature related to the dissertation topic. During the entrance exam the committee moderates a professional discussion with the applicant during which applicants should prove their knowledge and skills in the scientific area of educational philosophy.

      Applicants to the Philosophy of Education programme are now required to include the supervisor's consent in the application form as part of the admission procedure. Depending on the topic of the dissertation, the candidate will choose a supervisor from a list of possible supervisors and contact him/her well in advance of the application deadline. The candidate chooses a supervisor from the list of supervisors available on the application form. If he/she does not find a supervisor, he/she contacts the chairman of the departmental board doc. The chair will then advise them which supervisor deals with similar topics and give them the contact details of the supervisor in question.       Full completion of a master's degree programme in a similar field is a prerequisite for admission. The PhD programme builds mainly on programmes in philosophy, but is also open to graduates of master's programmes in other social sciences.

      Evaluation Criteria: In order to be admitted to full-time study, an applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is determined by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination for full-time and combined forms is set at 7 out of 10 points.

      The graduate of doctoral programme is capable of research activity in the area of philosophy, particularly philosophy of education. He is acquainted with assumptions of philosophical thinking from both diachronic and synchronic aspect. The graduate can review and form conceptual frames of education from a philosophical viewpoint and contribute to the development of European and planetary thinking. The graduate is prepared for educational and scientific work at university or a research institute as well as for generally beneficial political activity.
