      The doctoral studies are conceived as a preparatory programme for scholars and researchers whose creative endeavours contribute to the development of theory and research in the field of education sciences. The programme aims preferably to enhance their relevant expertise, to disseminate relevant research findings and trends in the field of education and to cultivate methodological competences of doctoral students. General focus of the study programme offers students the chance to get acquainted more deeply with the pedagogical disciplines. The focal point of the doctoral study is a doctoral dissertation/thesis, defined as an original scholarly work whose findings enrich the respective field of study within the broader context of developing the discipline.

      Entrance Examination:

      In the first round, the commission will assess the written research proposals that students submit together with the application, and will select applicants whose proposal, with its structure, form and content, shows the potential for doctoral studies. The project of research in the field of educational sciences of up to 10 pages of text should include:  characteristics of the research topic/area and its relevance, a literature review on the topic, and/or its theoretical background, formulation of a research problem, and specific research questions, description of the methodology chosen to answer the research questions, plan for implementation of the research proposal and references (all works cited in the proposal).

      Conditions of advancement to  the 2nd round of the entrance exam:

      The candidate who receives 0 points in the first round of the admission procedure does not advance to the second round. The result of the admission procedure is then written as: NOT ADMITTED.

      The applicant who gets 1 point in the first round of the admission procedure advances to the second round. And II. round, the candidate can get 1 to 9 points.

      Evaluation criteria:

      In order to be admitted to full-time study, an applicant must obtain the minimum number of points for successful completion of the entrance examination and at the same time obtain the minimum number of points required for admission. The minimum number of points for admission to individual study programmes is determined by the Dean on the basis of the results of the entrance examinations, taking into account the expected number of admitted applicants and the economic and capacity possibilities of the faculty. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the admission examination for both full-time and combined forms is set at 7 points out of 10 (the sum of points from the first and second rounds of the admission procedure).

      In the second round, a verbal discussion takes place on the topic o the research project with the candidates who have advanced from the first round. The discussion will also reflect the submitted list of studied professional literature. In process of defending the project, the applicant should demonstrate knowledge and skills in pedagogical concepts and methodology of social science and education research. One of the requirements is also an overview in the field of pedagogy and education science is reflected in the presented list of studied literature.

      A dmission is conditional on the proper completion of a master's degree programme in a similar field of study. The doctoral programme builds mainly on programmes in Teacher Education and Non-Teacher Pedagogy, but is also open to graduates of master's programmes in other areas of education who work in the field of pedagogy and social sciences.

      Graduate of the doctoral program Education is an expert in the area of education who cultivates the ability to apply theoretical equipment in a creative way during the course of study. He/she is knowledgeable, methodologically and linguistically equipped for an individual and a team scientific work in education and related social sciences. He/she can be employed in particular as a scientist, university educator, teacher at higher professional schools, as an expert or manager in separate educational provisions and as a conceptual or analytical expert in public administration institutions. The acquired competencies allow him/her to work professionally in a wide range of professions where he/she uses profound professional and methodological knowledge, critical thinking and professional insight.
