Applicants are admitted based on their results in the admission procedures. The conditions of the admission procedures and the results of the entrance exam are valid only for the specific academic year. The entrance exam may be taken only once per year as a part of the admission procedures.
The application is only valid after the application fee has been paid. You may pay the application fee by payment card or bank transfer. The payment information is generated for you after submitting the application.
The entrance exam is in English and consists of two rounds.
Round 1 – Knowledge test with multiple choice questions – focusing on the ability to use critical and logical thinking and the use of knowledge from basic fields of science – biology, chemistry, and physics.
Round 2 – Multiple-mini Interviews – Short interviews on various topics.
Round 1 of the entrance exam (knowledge test) takes place in person in Prague at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University at a time determined in advance in written or electronic form (at pre-arranged computer centres). Round 1 of the entrance exam may also take place at a cooperating international representative abroad where the knowledge test takes place in person in written or electronic form (at pre-arranged computer centres). The exact dates are published on the faculty’s web pages. The applicants are invited to the entrance exam (informed about the date and form of round 1 of the entrance exam) by an invitation sent no later than 30 days prior to the date of round 1 of the entrance exam via SIS.
You can find information about our international representatives on the faculty’s web pages: https://en.lf1.cuni.cz/applicants
Round 1 of the entrance exam – Knowledge test (multiple choice questions) – verifies the knowledge and capabilities of the applicant with respect to studying General Medicine at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University. It focuses on the ability to use critical and logical thinking and the use of knowledge from basic fields of science – biology, chemistry, and physics. The test is evaluated on the principle of selecting the best answer (single-best answer). Points are not deducted for a wrong answer. Each question has one right answer, and a correctly answered question is given one point. Thus, applicants can receive a maximum of 75 points in round 1 of the entrance exam.
The minimum amount of points for advancing to round 2 (given as a percentage of the maximum achievable number of points from the knowledge test) will be set by the Dean in a Dean’s measure no later than 31 January 2025.
Round 2 of the entrance exam – Multiple-mini Interviews –
Applicants complete five individual mini-interviews on different topics (each interview lasts approximately 10 minutes). The topics for the interviews may include role-playing in a medical environment, medical ethics, attitudes towards the provision of medical care, communication skills, teamwork, the interpretation of information, data calculation, the evaluation of situations, creative thinking, motivation for studying at the First Faculty of Medicine, achievements, knowledge and experience in a medical environment, and others. Each of the five interviews is conducted by a different examiner. A maximum of 20 points can be awarded for each interview. Thus, a maximum of 100 points can be obtained for round 2.
Round 2 of the entrance exam takes place online no later than 30 days after round 1 of the entrance exam. Applicants receive information about the term for round 2 by invitation together with the invitation for round 1 of the entrance exam. Applicants are informed whether they have fulfilled the conditions for advancing to round 2 of the entrance exam via SIS no later than two days prior to the term for taking the exam.
The minimum number of points for being admitted to the study programme (fulfilment alone is not sufficient for admission) is set by the Dean based on the results of round 2 of the entrance exam according to the anticipated number of admitted applicants (the capacity of the Dentistry study programme for the 2025/2026 academic year is 30 students).
The points earned in round 1 and round 2 are not cumulative. Only the points obtained in round 2 are decisive for admission to the study programme.
In addition to passing the entrance exam successfully (reaching the point limit), proof of secondary education completed with a secondary school leaving exam is required for admission to the study programme. If the education requirement is to be assessed by the faculty, a fee for the assessment of education must be paid by the applicant by payment card and the legalized education documents must be submitted to the faculty no later than 31 August 2025. More information is available on the faculty’s web pages: https://en.lf1.cuni.cz/nostrification
