Applicants are admitted by their scores in the entrance procedure, which is completely performed in English language. The application is valid only after payment of the fee. You pay the application fee by credit card, payment information will be generated for you after sending the application.
The entrance examination consists of two rounds.
The first round of the entrance examination:
• knowledge testing with multiple choice questions.
The entrance examination takes place either in Prague at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University on the set date of entrance examination, or between 1st January 2023 and 30th June 2023 at the co-operating agencies abroad. The knowledge testing will be done in person (or eventually on-line). Applicants will be informed at least 30 days before the exam date in the event of a change of form of the exam. Each applicant can sit the knowledge tests only once.
Evaluation of the knowledge tests with multiple choice questions: The applicant will receive one point for each correct answer. The knowledge testing is composed of 3 parts – tests of secondary school Biology, Chemistry and Physics (25 answers and maximum score 25 points for each test), so the maximum total 75 points for all three tests.
For questions in the written test, there is only one correct answer (single-best answer) and only a completely correctly answered question is evaluated with one point. Questions not answered or answered other than completely correctly are not evaluated. Calculators or other "smart devices" are not allowed.
The minimum total score in the paper knowledge tests that is required to advance to the 2nd round is set at 50 points. An applicant who achieved less than the minimum of 50 points does not advance to the 2nd round and his/her entrance examination is ended.
The 2nd round of the entrance examination:
• Interview = 4 stands for mini-interviews: At each stand, the maximum of 10 points can be gained (so the maximum total score is 40 points). 1. • Motivation letter (max. score 10 points) – an obligatory attachment to the application – the applicants describe their motivation to study in the field of General Medicine at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, their successes, knowledge and experience in medical environment.
Applicants that advance to the 2nd round have to collect at least 35 points out of the maximum of 50 points in the 2nd round (maximum score 40 points for the interviews plus 10 point for the motivation letter). Only the points obtained in the 2nd round decide who is admitted to the study, i.e. points collected in the 1st and 2nd round are not added up.
The 2nd round of entrance examination will be on-line (or eventually in person). Candidates will be informed at least 30 days before the exam date in the event of a change of form of the exam.
In addition to passing the entrance examination, a proof of finished secondary education that entitles the applicant to study at a university in the chosen field of study in the country where he/she completed the secondary school is required for admission to the study. If the Faculty is to assess the applicants education, the applicant must pay the fee for assessment of his/her education and submit the legalized documents proving the finished secondary education to the Faculty not later than on 31st August 2023.
