      The entrance exam is one round and the interview will deal mainly with the dissertation plan and candidate’s knowledge in the given field of study. The entrance exam consists of more parts in forms of presentations, interviews and discussions based on written preparation tasks given by the committee. The applicants present their results from their master studies (in english). The whole entrance exam takes place in one day.
      During the entrance examination the candidate must demonstrate the technical and linguistic skills to study the given field, along with abilities necessary for independent scientific work.

      The examination is graded with a maximum of 100 points.

      The list of possible topics and supervisors offered for the academic year 2022/2023 will be available on the website of the Department of Cell Biology (https://www.natur.cuni.cz/biologie/bunecna-biologie/studium) after 1st March 2022. We recommend that the candidates contact the supervisors in advance to discuss available projects and their requirements.

      Based on a written request submitted electronically together with the application, but no later than by 12th May 2022, the dean may permit that the entrance exam will take place via information and communication technology, but only for serious and documented reasons such as health or study abroad.

      The entrance examination may be waived based on a request of a candidate who has been accepted for the STARS project in the given academic years.

      The request must be submitted electronically by 12th May 2022.

      Ph.D. graduate has extensive knowledge of cell and developmental biology, ranging from basic principles of molecular and cell biology and practical methods, to applications in cellular and developmental pathology. After the completion of the doctoral thesis, the graduate is well versed in specialized experimental approaches, can work with scientific literature and knows basic principles of scientific work, adopting ethical guidelines and observing rules of conduct in scientific publishing. The graduate is capable of independently solving both theoretical and practical problems encountered during research work. The graduate is fluent in scientific English and is capable of formulating her/his opinions so that they can be presented to the international scientific community.
