      The entrance procedure
      (1) must be undergone by each applicant;
      (2) is held in the form of interview before a board and its aim is to check the student’s capacity for scientific work in the given field.

      The board evaluates:
      (1) Motivation for studying
      (a) The student shall present the reasons that made him/her decide to study (max. 5 points); and
      (b) tells the board about his/her view of the prospects following the completion of the studies (max. 5 points)
      Maximum score for the whole item – 10 points
      (2) Previous professional/scientific activity in the field – to evaluate previous activities relevant to the project. Preferably, publishing activities are considered:
      (a) for an article in a journal with IF – 20 points
      The applicant will receive the full number of points as the first author, or 50 % as a co-author.
      (a) for an article in the SCOPUS/ERIH data base – 15 points
      The applicant will receive the full number of points as the first author, or 50 % as a co-author.
      (b) for an article in a reviewed journal – 10 points
      The applicant will receive the full number of points as the first author, or 50 % as a co-author.
      (c) for an active presentation in a Student Scientific Conference or another conference – 5 points
      Maximum score for the whole item – 20 points (the points are not added up)
      (3) Quality of the thesis project and quality of its presentation: the student shall submit the draft abstract of the thesis – hypothesis and plan of solution of the project. Both the presentation and response to board members’ questions are evaluated.

      (4) Relation of the topic to the intended Supervising Tutor’s orientation and his/her research projects:
      (a) The accord of the proposed topic with the Supervising Tutor’s research orientation must be clear.
      (b) For the Supervising Tutor’s grant beyond the University – 5 points,
      for the accord with the Supervising Tutor’s research orientation – 5 points.
      Maximum score for the whole item – 10 points
      (5) The way of presentation of the project by the applicant:
      (a) quality of the presentation (0-5 points);
      (b) response to board members’ questions (0-5 points).

      Each member of the examining board will score the applicant according to the above key.
      The maximum score given by one board member is 70 points.
      From the scores given by particular board members, the arithmetic mean will be calculated.
      The standing of the applicants will be set according to the resulting number of points.
      The board shall set the minimum score necessary for admission to studies in the given academic year.

      Graduates of the doctoral program in addictology receive a comprehensive education aimed at (i) transdisciplinary research excellence in addictology, (ii) advanced knowledge and skills in the clinical practice in addictology, and (iii) a comprehensive theoretical and empirical understanding of the public health perspective in addictology. Through the trans-disciplinary study of addictive behaviors within their risk environment, students of the doctoral program will have gained an in-depth understanding of the ramifications of addictology for theory, policy and interventions.
