      Entrance examination: two-rounds (written – assessment of materials submitted; followed by an oral interview)
      Entrance examination description

      1. round – written exam (assessment of submitted materials for MA project without the applicant present)
        a) MA project proposal in English in 900–1 000 words: 0–50 points
      2. round – oral exam (the exam focuses on topics covered in subjects during BA Logic studies, the applicant must display the skills of a BA Logic graduate)
        b) Classical Logic I, II (for example subjects ALG119011, ALG119012 and ALG119007 in CU system): 0–20 points
        c) Set Theory and Recursion Theory (for example subject ALG110007 in CU system): 0–20 points
        d) Philosophy of Logic (for example subject ALG119003 in CU system): 0–10 points

      Ad a) Applicants submit the MA project proposal (circa 5 pages long) through the Student Information System no later than the date specified in the Entrance exams schedule at CU FA. The proposal should adhere to established academic standards and contain sources. It should be clearly set and formulated, propose an original point of view of a certain topic in the field of logic and have the potential to be made into an MA thesis during the course of study.
      research proposal evaluation criteria:
      • The proposal is a clearly formulated and exhibiting expertise, contains only minor deficiencies: 50–38 points
      • The proposal is a clearly formulated and exhibiting expertise, contains major deficiencies, but is still acceptable: 37–25 points
      • The proposal is weak and unconvincing, very low probability of successful completion of project: 24–13 points
      • The proposal totally unsatisfactory, exhibiting poor knowledge of the topic: 12–1 points
      • Failure to submit project proposal: 0 points

      Ad b, c, d) The exam questions correspond to matter studied in the BA Logic study programme at CU FA. The syllabi for the subjects can be found in the CU system: https://is.cuni.cz/studium/.

      Admission to Master's studies is conditioned by completed secondary education confirmed by a school-leaving certificate. Admission to Post-Bachelor studies (Master's programme) is likewise conditioned by completed education in any type of study programme.

      Logika je teoretickým programem, ve kterém se uplatňují matematické metody a který je aplikovatelný v matematice, teoretické informatice a specifických oblastech filosofie. Dále logika souvisí s lingvistikou a s právní vědou. Absolventi se obecně mohou uplatnit ve všech oblastech, kde se pracuje s formálními a kvantitativními metodami a využívá se kritická analýza problémů, často ve formalizovaném prostředí (softwarové nebo právní firmy, státní správa či vzdělávací instituce). Absolventi mohou pokračovat v doktorském studiu programu logika.
