The course focuses on concept of stress and stress management. What is stress, stressors, stress response, acute and chronic stress, stressful life events, coping mechanisms? What are the causes of stress? Are there different types of stressors? Daily living difficulties, stressful events (marital problems, difficulties at work, serious physical illness) and traumatic life experiences. How does stress differ from anxiety and depression? How does one adapt to stress? The effective coping with stress and maladaptive/destructive strategies. There are a few areas that need to be discussed
