The Attic Tragedy II The course is dedicated to the fifth century B.C. in Greece, a time when the Attic tragedy flourished among Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides, and when philosophy changed from its pre-Socratic to its ‘Socratic’ form. The course examines, on the basis of the formation of specifically European no-tions of rationality in the context of incipient logics and dialectics, what contribution the tragedy made here, and to what extent tragedy presented rationality schemes that philosophy might not have caught up with. The course continues what was discussed in the winter semester 2019 by ex-amining the Oresteia material this time.
