The course introduces the basic theoretical perspectives on communication with emphasis on their interdisciplinarity. Based on the development of thinking about media with a focus on the 20th century introduces to students a paradigm shift in media studies and basic research milestones not only for media communication. The course provides students with the main theoretical basis that are necessary for the presentation of a research project in the field of communication.

Mezi základními tématy kurz studentům představí základní distinkce mediované a nemediované komunikace, obeznámí s konceptem mediace a jejími vlivy na příkladu proměn politické komunikace.
