This course aims at reading and analysing current Czech history and historical anthropology, focusing especially on the scholarly stylistics in this field. Students present and discuss their PhD thesis projects in progress. Along with a discussion of the current problems of historiography in the Czech Republic and abroad, this doctoral seminar aims at providing students with the opportunity to present their PhD thesis projects. While the first year students are focused on defining the objectives of the projects, and on identifying conceptual frameworks, methodology, etc., the advanced student are required to present and discuss their work in progress.

Kromě diskusí o aktuálních problémech české i zahraniční historické vědy představují hlavní osu kurzu prezentace konkrétních doktorských projektů. U studentů a studentek na počátku doktorského studia se pozornost soustředí především na cíle projektu, konceptuální rámce, výchozí teze a otázky, zvolená metodologie, nosnost pramenů pro zvolený projekt, strukturu dizertace, formální rovinu odborného textu atd. U pokročilejších účastníků se v rámci semináře čtou a diskutují již hotové části dizertace.
