The course provides students with insights into medieval princely courts and court culture in wider European context. Source criticism to written (chronicles, charters, accounts, etc.) and material or archaeological sources (esp. residences) within major topics (such as structure of the court, residence, traveling, coronations, etc.) constitutes an important feature of the course. Special attention is paid to Prague Castle and courts of Bohemian or Roman kings, resp. Holy Roman Emperors.
