The course on Health and Disease presents the concepts of health and disease and the fundaments of clinical medicine, clinical communication and medical ethics to non-medical students. It further introduces the common health care vocabulary and the ethical and legal framework of health care provisions. The main focus is laid on humanistic approaches to health, disease and treatments. A special attention is given to the demographic transition – population ageing, gerontology, self-care, autonomy, disability and long-term health and social care.

Kurz Zdraví a nemoc seznamuje nezdravotníky s pojetím zdraví a
nemoci, se základními postupy klinické medicíny, se zásadami klinické
komunikace a etiky, s právní úpravou poskytování zdravotní péče, se
základním zdravotnickým pojmoslovím a s humanistickými principy. Speciálně
je probrána problematika demografické změny a gerontologie, soběstačnosti,
zdravotního postižení a dlouhodobé péče zdravotně sociální.
