The course focuses on an application of psychological knowledge to educational practice, providing future educators with basic knowledge and skills related to effective educational and psychological interventions. The course also provides students with knowledge about psychological aspects of movement and explains the role of psychology in motor skills development. It also focuses on a positive experience of physical activity as a background for life-long physical activity participation.

Course Goals:

- the aim of the course is to provide students with a general overview of the basics of psychology and sports psychology with an emphasis on pedagogical approaches with use in pedagogical practice

Learning outcomes:

- clarify the meaning of pedagogical psychology and sports psychology, their function and mission

- orientate and think systematically in the vast field of pedagogic psychology and sports psychology knowledge and use terminology adequately

- characterize pedagogical psychology and conflict psychology as a scientific discipline, include them in the system of psychological disciplines

- define the main factors of the teaching process, characterize the essence of the learning process in pedagogical situations

- characterize motivation in pedagogical situations, motivation in relation to the learning process

- explain how educational psychology and sports psychology can contribute to personality change

- explain the function of mental processes, clarify the importance of cognitive and executive functions in learning and in sports

- apply acquired pedagogical and psychological knowledge and skills from lectures and seminars to the educational process

- effectively use acquired pedagogical psychological knowledge and principles of psychological skills training in pedagogical, coaching or lecturing activities
