Swimming is a movement skill that takes place in an environment to which one has to adapt for a long time. It is sufficient adaptation that will allow a person to fully concentrate on activities that are related to the aquatic environment. Being able to swim means that the student is ready to make full use of the skills learned, in improving other swimming skills associated with swimming training.

The subject focuses on mastering and improving swimming styles and improving the individual technique of individual swimming styles, starts and turns. It also focuses on the basics of water rescue and movement training in water.

After passing and completing the subject, the student is able to demonstrate basic swimming skills and technique of swimming backstroke, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, including starts and turns. The student can outline the key points of the technique of the given swimming method and interpret the swimming technique in connection with the rules of swimming. The student can provide simple feedback based on movement analysis and choose appropriate swimming exercises to correct deviations from the model structure of swimming movements. The student realizes the importance of swimming as part of lifelong activities. At the same time, the student can interpret the possible risks of staying in the water environment and the importance of basic hygiene habits at the pool. The student masters the special skills of a water rescuer and can modify them in various situations, including self-rescue. The student understands the concept of movement training in water and can apply the basic training methods of swimming training in the form of simple motives for the development of physical fitness.
