It is a two semester course and its main idea is in interconnection of macroeconomic models with their application in forming and implementation of economic policy in the 20th century. It is based on the beginnings of modern macroeconomics i.e. Great Depression in the 30s and on the basis of classical and Keynesian model economy policy of this period especially in the U.S.A. (New Deal) is discussed. Various models of economy policy in the period after World War II are included especially neoclassical synthesis and application of economy policy in the U.S.A. and Great Britain in the 50s and 60s and also approaches in other countries (indicative planning in France, Scandinavian model, economy policy in Western Germany and Japan experience). Further there are lectures on models of open economics (Mundell-Fleming), economy policy of the period of two oil shocks in the 70s are discussed, Lucas criticism and models of rational expectations and all is illustrated on individual cases of economic-political development of various countries in the 70s and 80s, including policies of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Effectiveness of monetary and anti-inflation policies is illustrated on the increasing role of central banks in economy policy in the 90s. Finally economic-political problems of transformation of mid and east European countries and issues of European integration will be discussed. Explanation is not focused only on macroeconomic level but in single instances also the role of microeconomic factors is emphasized.
