The course is focused on the role of sport and sport tourism in regional development using sociology of sport and leisure, and theories of regional development. Attention is paid to specific social groups. The aspects of sustainable development are stressed. Using view of sociology, students are trained to apply gained knowledge in work of sport and sport tourism managers, mainly in public sector. Using this knowledge, they will be able participate in the process of regional/local strategic plans of development and their implementation.

The aim of course is to get theoretical knowledge described in annotation. On this basis, students become competent to critically analyse and evaluate the regional/local development. They are able to integrate the sport and sport tourism as useful tools of regional development into strategic plans respecting the sustainability.
