The course deals with the development of all forms of physical culture, their content and social context from the beginnings of human civilization to the present.

The aim of the course is to learn about the origins and the development of different forms of physical culture throughout history, to learn to understand history of physical culture within the context of the main epochs of (mainly European) history, and to develop an understanding of how modern sport was formed.

The basic learning outcomes are:

- students orient themselves in the developemnt of physical culture in the world, with an emphasis on sport in the European history;

- students have a critical view of the essence of sport and its values, in relation to its development;

- students can recognize different forms of physical cuture;

- students can express themselves more comprehensively about the development of sport and physical culture;

- students can formulate selected current problems in sport related to its historical development;

- students have a deeper understanding of physical culture within the context of the main epochs of (mainly European) history.
