The course follows the course "Diploma Specialization I". The aim of the course is to continue the implementation of the diploma work, in particular, to gain deeper knowledge and skills in the methodology of scientific research and its application in practice. The student follows the instructions of the supervisor of the thesis, who is responsible for teaching the subject. Subject content depends on the topic of the thesis and the requirements of the supervisor.

Learning Outcomes:

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and general competencies so that after the completion of the course the students:

  • demonstrate the ability to process the theoretical basis of the thesis
  • demonstrate knowledge and skills in questions of methodology of scientific research and its application in practice
  • demonstrate an understanding of the importance of teamwork in science and research

Requirements to the exam

Credit Requirements - according to the assignment of the thesis supervisor (usually in the following range):

  • elaboration of a written thesis project (outline of the work, introduction, theoretical background, aim of the work and its justification, hypotheses, methodology, study literature elaborated according to a uniform citation standard)
  • Provision of research / experiment in the field or in laboratories of Charles University FTVS (if the research is part of DT)
  • measurement test (validation - if the research is part of the thesis)
  • submission of the approved application of the Ethics Committee of the Charles University FTVS (if necessary for the implementation of the DT)

The granting of credit and its entry into SIS is the responsibility of the subject guarantor. Credits may be granted upon submission of the above specified requirements in printed form, which are supplemented by a written statement of the thesis supervisor. The thesis supervisor confirms the fulfillment of the conditions for granting the credit by a specific date on the submitted material.
