The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the methodical management of the thesis and with the requirements for its content cartridge. The student will be acquainted with organizational requirements for elaboration of diploma thesis by the supervisor diploma thesis, which is responsible for the subject. The content of the course depends on the topic of the thesis and requirements of the supervisor.

Learning Outcomes:

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and general competencies so that after the completion of the course the students:

  • demonstrate knowledge of the procedures necessary for the implementation of the master thesis
  • demonstrate knowledge of the rules of the ethics committee of UK FTVS
  • demonstrate the ability to prepare and submit an application to the ethics committee of the UK FTVS
  • demonstrate knowledge of requirements, conditions and general recommendations for writing final diploma thesis at UK FTVS
  • demonstrate the ability to choose the topic of the diploma thesis
  • demonstrate the ability to process a diploma thesis project
  • demonstrate the ability to plan an experiment

Requirements to the exam

Course Requirements:

  • choice of the topic, title of the thesis, elaboration of basic theoretical background to the topic of the thesis, determination of work goals and work hypotheses, compilation of the initial study literature according to a uniform citation standard
  • entering the thesis in the SIS (to be done by the thesis supervisor by December 15 of the relevant academic year at the latest)
  • submitting the application to the Ethics Committee of the Charles University FTVS (if necessary for the implementation of the DP)
  • presentation of the topic within the subject of diploma specialization

Granting of the credit and its entry into SIS is the responsibility of the subject guarantor. The credit can be granted after submitting the above specified requirements in printed form, which are supplemented by a written statement of the thesis supervisor. The thesis supervisor confirms the fulfillment of the conditions for granting the credit by a specific date on the submitted material.

The research project is carried out and the thesis is elaborated with the guidance of the academic advisor. Requirements according to the assignment of the thesis supervisor (usually to the following extent): Literary research of the issue, setting goals, hypotheses and elaboration of methodology, submitting an application to the ethics committee (if necessary), presentation of the topic within the framework of diploma specialization.
