The subject introduces students to basic investigation methods in internal medicine, information about the course and diagnosis of individual diseases and the possibilities of their prevention. It also provides information about treatment options of individual internal diseases, gets to know the basic fields internal medicine including geriatrics (somatic and psychological involutional changes of the aging organism). The subject is focused on connecting theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of human physiology and other clinical fields.

The subject introduces students to basic investigation methods in internal medicine, information about the course
and diagnosis of individual diseases and the possibilities of their prevention.

The student acquires knowledge about the pathophysiology of aging, can define and describe individual phases of aging.

The student orients himself in the possibilities of diagnostics and is able to differentiate the use of diagnostic methods internally.

The student will gain an overview of the risks of the development and occurrence of diseases in the elderly, can describe and distinguish typical symptoms of diseases of individual organ systems, and can define the possibilities of treatment procedures.
