Aim of the course -
Last update: prof. MUDr. Jan Heller, CSc. (09.11.2023)

Principles of functional stress diagnostics for individuals with disability and/or special needs, modification of stress test methodologies and protocols, selection of criteria and ways of the results of evaluating stress tests in people with special needs and their interpretation.

Knowledge:

The student acquires knowledge about functional exercise diagnostics for people with special needs and needs, about methodologies and possibilities for modifying exercise test methodologies and protocols, about the choice of criteria and methods of evaluating the results of exercise tests for people with special needs and their interpretation, is introduced to the manifestations of adaptations to cellular level, with the principles of energy metabolism and the metabolic characteristics of load according to the intensity of metabolism and duration and the effect of the histochemical composition of skeletal muscle on the energetics of muscle work. The student will acquire knowledge about homeostatic, transport and regulatory mechanisms during exercise, about applications of physiological principles in training, about physiological aspects of exercise in specific groups of the population, about internal and external factors affecting the performance of an individual, about the health significance of physical activity and will acquire knowledge about basic examinations in exercise physiology used for the investigation of persons with special needs.

Skills: The student will be able to define the basic principles of the physiology of body load and adaptation, apply knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptation to training, use diagnostic procedures of the physiology of body load and evaluate the results achieved as prerequisites for fitness and sports performance, specify the differences in physiological reactions and adaptations in individual groups of the population, independently carry out and evaluate simple functional tests with modifications for screening individuals with special needs.

Competence: The student is competent to use the acquired knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptations for their application and connection with subsequent subjects such as sports training and sports specialization, to use the acquired information in everyday practice and to apply knowledge of the physiology of body load and adaptations in training, to use diagnostic procedures of body physiology loads and evaluate the results achieved as prerequisites for fitness and sports performance, specify differences in physiological reactions and adaptations in individual population groups, independently perform and evaluate simple functional tests with modifications for the investigation of persons with special needs.
