The aim of the subject is to introduce students to the nutrition of various population groups, especially rational nutrition, sports nutrition, nutrition in childhood, pregnancy and old age, and clinical nutrition. The subject is focused on theoretical knowledge and practical skills in nutrition and expands competence in the field of nutrition counseling for specific population groups.

Knowledge
Basic terms: rational diet, energy metabolism, nutritional pyramid, food components, alternative nutrition; diagnostic methods in dietetics; specifics of nutrition in selected population groups

Skills (the student can)
- list individual factors for optimal diet composition
- name the individual components of the diet, their importance and specifics in sports
- describe diagnostic procedures in dietetics (eating habits - history, interview, questionnaire survey, basic rules for drawing up a menu; somatic parameters and body composition - basic somatic parameters and their assessment, body composition parameters, methodologies)
- describe the basic principles of selected alternative nutritional directions

Competence (the student is competent)
- list the factors influencing the individual setting of the diet and menu
- explain the importance and differences of individual food components
- define and explain the basic principles of diagnostic methods in dietetics
- list the basic parameters of the assessment of eating habits
- theoretically describe the principles of evaluation of basic somatic parameters
- to orientate and describe the theoretical principles of body composition analysis methods
- describe the positives and negatives of selected alternative nutritional directions
- describe the specifics of dietary recommendations for population groups
