The aim of this course is to introduce this linguistic discipline to the students of German studies and to inform them about the related terminology. The course deals with the subject of lexicology, its relation to other linguistic disciplines and subdisciplines (semasiology, onomasiology, onomastics, lexicography, etymology etc.). Attention is paid to the word and its analysis. Significant chapters of this course deal with the ways of word formation in the German, with German phraseology and the stratification of the German vocabulary from the regional and social point of view.

Cílem kurzu je získat samostatnost i tvořivost při využívání německé slovní zásoby na základě hlubších teoretických poznatků o lexiku. Obsahem kurzu jsou tato témata: Předmět lexikologie a její vztah k ostatním lingvistickým disciplínám. Sémasiologie, onomasiologie, onomastika. Slovo, stavba slova, sém, semém, sémantém, sémantická analýza. Tvoření slov odvozováním, skládáním a jinými způsoby. Frazeologie. Slovní zásoba, její rozvrstvení. Lexikografie, vznik této disciplíny, typy slovníků, základní slovníky němčiny. V rámci seminářů studenti procvičují německou frazeologii v konfrontaci s frazeologií českou, prakticky se seznamují s předmětem lexikografie, onomastiky, etymologie, získávají vhled do oboru dialektologie současné němčiny (s ukázkami jednotlivých nářečních oblastí), věnují se rovněž sociálně determinovaným variantám současné němčiny; zvláštní zřetel je kladen na fenomén tzv. "Denglisch" a na jazyk dnešní mládeže (Jugendsprechweise).
