Tento kurz se zabývá genderovými přístupy ke studiu literatury - poezie i prózy. Za aktivního přispění studentů kurz přistupuje ke kritické a do hloubky zaměřené četbě literárních děl s použitím genderu jako analytického nástroje. Témata: 1. Základní aspekty a pojetí genderu – esencialismus a společenský konstruktivismus 2. Přehled historie západní tradice pojetí genderu 3. Čelní představitelé genderově orientované literatury dvacátého století - Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir 4. Kulturní konstrukty ženy 5. Gender a jazyk – konfrontace kánonu 6. Feministická literární kritika – např. “sexuální politika” Kate Milletové, dílo Margaret Atwood a Angela Carter 7. Revize ženské literatury - Adrienne Rich a “povinná heterosexualita” 8. Sylvia Plath a rezistence k patriarchální moci 9. Alice Walker a revise díla Virginie Woolf 10. Womanismus versus feminismus

The aims of the course are to familiarise students with central debates about gender, to introduce approaches of feminist criticism and to focus on key authors and texts relating to the topic of gender in literature.
