The course introduces the issue of early childhood and pre-school education and special educational support for child development. The subject is focused on the ontogenetic development of the child in the neonatal period, infant, toddler and pre-school psychomotor development, its patterns, impact of disability, parental role and the role of teacher and special pedagogue. The course content includes issue of disability diagnostics, implementation of special educational development support by institutional education - kindergarten, special kindergarten, stationery, special pedagogical center, issue of school maturity and readiness.

The subject provides a comprehensive insight into the special educational issues in the field of family and child with disability support. The aim of the subject is to understand social and psychological situation of the family where there a child with severe disability or socially disadvantage is born. The participants are acquainted with a legislation of early intervention and methodology of supporting child development in early intervention and follow-up pre-school educational process. Attention is paid to sources of family resilience and creation of coping strategies. Participants will be also acquainted with current research in the Czech Republic and abroad (implemented for target groups of children with disability). The target group may also include extremely talented children.

  • Child development, ontogenetic development of early and pre-school age, psychomotor developmental specifics
  • Special education of early and pre-school age - child with speech and language disorders. Characteristics, development and pathology of speech functions in childhood. Speech and language development pathology: causes, degrees, types and diagnostics.
  • Speech ontogenesis of children with hearing impairment - light hearing impairment, severe hearing impairment, pre-lingual and post-lingual hearing impairment
  • Psychomotor differences of children with physical disability. The most common types of physical disability and psychosocial situation of a child with various types of physical disability.
  • Knowledge of the specificity of visual impaired child development in the early and pre-school age, consequences of sensory deprivation on psychomotor development, possibilities of special educational intervention. Knowledge about system and forms of early intervention, reeducation of sight - visual stimulation, aids and techniques of visual stimulation activities.
  • Specifics of psychomotor development of a child with mental disability, family support, accepting a new life situation.
  • Play as a basic activity of the child, its philosophical, psychological and pedagogical basis, play as a diagnostic tool, play as a therapeutic and stimulating instrument.
