The elective seminars I and II for the Bachelor's degree deepen the student's historical contextual knowledge. The seminars are designed in an interdisciplinary manner, linking history with related disciplines (e.g. art history, literary history, geography, etc.), aiming to encourage students to work independently with different types of sources and to deepen their factual and argumentative skills, to present the results of their work in public and to be able to discuss and defend their conclusions. Selected Seminar II C - Sources on 20th Century History and their Interpretation II. The seminar will be aimed at deepening the topics covered in the General History V series. The aim of the seminar is to introduce students to different types of sources and to teach them how to interpret them. This will include both official documents and pictorial sources (photographs, posters) and, last but not least, audiovisual sources (sound recordings, films). Special emphasis will be placed on the topic of propaganda during the Cold War. Students should thus learn not only to read contemporary texts but also to interpret different types of sources using concrete examples. 1. Sources on the history of the anti-Nazi resistance. 2. The Holocaust in pictures and written documents. 3. The so-called Third Republic in the light of contemporary documents and contemporary interpretations. 4. Sources on the removal of Germans from Czechoslovakia. 5. February 1948 in official, pictorial and commemorative documents. 6. The beginning of the Cold War in contemporary sources. 7. Divided Germany in photographs and documents. 8. Written and film sources on the history of political processes in communist Czechoslovakia. 9. The Sixties in the light of contemporary sources. 10. Key moments of the Cold War. 11. Sources on the history of the so-called Prague Spring. 12. Interpretations of the history of normalisation between official propaganda, contemporary sources and memories of witnesses.
