The course of Modern English VI develops students’ language skills further to level C2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The coursebook focuses on the practical language skills of students, namely spoken and written production as well as reading and listening comprehension. Particular attention is paid to developing students’ accuracy, fluency and complexity in English as L2. The course extends students’ English word stock, including collocations, idioms, phrasal verbs and abstract terms. Students learn to understand English grammar as a system and they are exposed to less frequent grammatical structures that occur in the presented texts. Besides the core coursebook, students receive a large number of supplementary exercises.

At the end of the course, students are due to take a credit test. The test consists of two parts: "Language skills" (reading + listening) and "Use of English" (lexis and grammar). Each part has the same weight of 50%.

The Use of English part tests grammar and lexis of the C1-C2 reference level, in which:

- the grammar part tests grammar at the C1-C2 level (Proficiency Masterclass Student Book)

- the lexical part draws on the content of units 6-12 predominantly and on all extra materials used in the course

The minimum score to pass the credit test is 70% in each part of the test (i.e., 70% in the part "Language Skills" and 70% in the part "Use of English").

There are two sittings granted for each student.
