The subject introduces students to educational thinking in European and global context in the national curriculum. It summarizes secondary school knowledge of the European Union and global development education, with an emphasis on applications in school and extracurricular education and on searching for sources of up-to-date truthful information. The course focuses on didactic modeling of topics and objectives of teaching lessons, their analysis, preparation and presentation of their own teaching activities.

Students explain the importance and classification of education for thought in the European and global context in the Czech curriculum, specifying its thematic and target orientation. They will propose and present a plan of a model lesson for a selected thematic area of the cross-curricular theme of the FEP (RVP).

Předmět má 3 kredity dle ECTS, celková časová zátěž studenta odpovídá 81 hodinám. Doba očekávané přípravy na 1 hodinu přímé výuky je 1 hodina (celkem 12+12 hodin), samostudium literatury (za celý semestr) 20 hodin, práce se studijními materiály (za celý semestr) 15 hodin, plnění průběžných úkolů (za celý semestr) 15 hodin. Zpracování seminární práce a příprava prezentace 15 hodin.

Syllabus -

1. Basic facts about the European Union, the process of European integration, sources of European law, objectives and values of the EU, EU institutions.

2. Examples of myths and misinformation about the EU, ways of verifying sources of information and critical thinking. EU education, training and youth policy.

3. Global development education (GRV), basic principles, themes and goals. Global citizenship education concept. Objectives of sustainable development.

4. The concept of the cross-curricular theme Education to Thinking in European and Global Contexts in Contemporary Czech Curricular Documents. Target categories of the cross-curricular theme of the FEP and the National Strategy for Global and Development Education (attitudes and values, skills, knowledge), links to other strategic documents.

5. Implementation of the cross-cutting theme in schools, cooperation of teachers and schools with non-profit organizations. eTwinning as a community of European schools and a platform for cooperation between pupils and teachers.

6. Czech education in a comparative perspective. Scholarships, mobility and exchange programs for pupils, students and teachers.

7. Sources of teaching materials for cross-curricular teaching, library and publications of the European House, online resources.

8. Examples of model teaching lessons on EU or GRV, didactic analysis of lessons.

9. Structure and projection of a teaching lesson with the theme of education for thinking in European and global contexts.

10. Presentation of lesson plans and group feedback.
