The course focuses on the development of education in Czech multicultural society. It helps students understand and accept diversity as a positive phenomenon and consider differences between people from different cultural backgrounds as highly contributive. Students learn how to communicate and cooperate with members of different sociocultural groups using their own means of expression. Critical analysis and understanding of differences should shape motivation to intercultural exchange, support the feeling of solidarity and the ability to reflect social and economic inequality. Intercultural education allows adapting education and educational programmes to conditions and needs of a specific region or local community.

Students will demonstrate in the discussion the knowledge of the basic concepts and different approaches to the teaching of multicultural education. The seminar work or power-point presentation demonstrates the ability to select and use adequate forms of teaching.

The course has 5 credits according to ECTS, the total time load of the student corresponds to 135 hours. Expected preparation time for 1 hour of lecture 30 minutes, expected preparation time for 1 hour of seminar 45 minutes, self-study of literature (for the whole semester) 12 hours, work with study materials (for the whole semester) 15 hours, fulfillment of continuous tasks (for the whole semester) 18 hours. Seminar work 10 hours.

- definition of basic terms (intergaxing, assimilation, inclusion, stereotypes, xenophobia, rasisnus, gender problems);
- cultural customs of different nations and ethnicities;
- different symbols in communication, communication barriers, etiquette;
- current topics for the teaching of the MoI;
- sources of information for teaching the MC;
- specific methods of teaching MV with demonstrations;

Studying two publications on the subject of your choice.
One of the publications read by the students is a review.
Processing one of the topics of multicultural education through seminar work or power-point presentation.
Specific requirements are entered in MOODLE-
Active participation in seminars.
In the case of non-participation in the seminars, a further test is required to obtain a credit test.
