The subject focuses on special aspects of physical activities in winter time. The aim of this course is to acquaint the students with the principles of winter outdoors in the mountains, the skiing equipment and ski gear, and the ski waxing and maintenance. Students learn the basics of downhill and cross country-skiing. During the course students will acquire other abilities such as sliding, bobsledding, sledging, skating, and snow games and competitions. The course focuses on didactics of the above mentioned activities for pre-school and school children, the organisation of school ski training courses and winter school camps. The course introduces the methods of regeneration, the basics of auto-massage, and leisure time activities. The course aims at contemporary issues: the basics of going downhill and making curves; the basic techniques of cross-country skiing (classical and skating); ski tourism, the principles of organisation of daylong ski trips; snow games; ski maintenance; winter ski gear and skiing equipment; danger in the mountains, and first aid in the mountains. The course also provides information about snowboarding, ski alpinism and ski carving.
