The aim of the course is to provide an overview of socio-legal protection of children and teenagers. The course is based on Convention on the Rights of the Child and on its history. It presents the system of children and family support provided by state and independent subjects. It presents indicators of child in need and ways of possible social support.

The course-unit credit requirements: successful writing of the credit test - open and closed questions (min. 75%). It is possible to use 3 attemps for writing test - one regular, two corrective.

1.Position of the Convention on the rights of the child in the legal system of the Czech Republic.

2.System of the governmental and nongovernmental assistance to the families with children.

3.Problems of the alternative family care (forms, alternatives, institutional framework, procedures and possible risks).

4.Protection of children before social-pathological phenomenons, protection of children at leasure time activities, protection of the rights of the minorities.

5.Occurrence of socially undesirable phenomenons with regard to childrenand youth and strategies of the prevention.

6.Identification of the problems of child in distress and provision of the social support.
