The course contains selected issues of quality of life related to health, with a focus on aging and the elderly. Quality of life is presented here as a crucial category for assessing the effectiveness of health and social services, as well as pedagogical impact on the senior population. The aim of the course is to increase students' sensitivity to the problems and needs of aging and elderly people and to acquaint them with the possibilities of supporting the quality of life of these people. Content definition: 1. Aging and old age in individual and social perspective. 2. Social gerontology and related disciplines. 3. Quality of life related to health. 4. Biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of aging. 5. The position of seniors in society, the phenomenon of ageism. 6. Health and social problems in old age, polymorbidity. 7. Principles of healthy aging, preparation for old age, gerontagogy. 8. Intergenerational understanding, communication with seniors. 9. Dying and death as a natural part of life. 10. Palliative care, euthanasia.
