The course clarifies the specifics of education in preschool. Attention is paid to the development of the concept of childhood, the importance of play in preschool age, the specifics of the educational process in kindergarten, categorization of preschool institutions, professionalization of the teaching profession, issues of school readiness and continuity of pre-primary and primary education. The aim of the course is to provide a basic orientation in the historical development of preschool education and to get acquainted with the current concept of education of preschool children. 1. Preschool pedagogy as a scientific discipline. 2. Changes in the education of a preschool child. Preschool education and preschool education. 3. Objectives, methods, content and conditions of preschool education. Educational program and curriculum. 4. Pre-school education systems. Contemporary foreign models. Educational programs in Czech kindergartens. 5. Basic activities of the preschool period. Game - learning - creative and work activity. 6. Milestones of pre-school education (child's entry into kindergarten, school readiness) 7. A child on the threshold of school attendance, development and support of pre-school literacy. 8. Education of children with special educational needs in kindergartens. 9. Forms of cooperation of kindergarten with parents, primary school and other institutions. 10. Professional training of preschool teachers.
