Cílem kurzu je seznámit studenty s nejdůležitějšími momenty historického vývoje Velké Británie (týden 1-6) a Spojených států amerických (týden 7-12). Práce v semináři je založena na presentacích učitele + na samostatné domácí přípravě studentů a následné diskuzi. Témata: 1. The Earliest Britain (Romans → Hundred Years War) 2. The House of Tudors (the Bothworth Field → the death of the Queen) 3. The Stuart – the Republic – The Stuarts (James I. → the Act of Union) 4. Great Britain under Industrialism and Victorianism (18th + 19th century Britain) 5. From the Great War to the Great Liberation (Britain 1910-1945) 6. The Post-war Britain (Britain 1945-2000) 7. The Earliest America (Columbus → Puritan America) 8. The Century of Independence (the colonies in 18th century) 9. The Century of Civil War (USA in 19th century) 10. From One War to Another (USA 1914-1945) 11. Cold War I (1950s – 1960s) 12. Cold War II (1970s – 2000s)
