The subject Music theory is focused on revising and systemization of the basic music theory which should be known before the students enter the faculty: notation, major and minor scales, church and folk modes, intervals, chords with their inversions, harmonic functions, harmonic cadences.

1. Bases of notation with English terminology.

2. Names of notes in different European languages (latin alphabet, solmization).

3. Major and minor scales.

4. Intervals.

5. Chords - triads, sevenchords with their inversions.

6. Church and folk modes.

7. Non-harmony notes.

8. Harmonic functions and basic harmonic cadences.
