The course focuses on the role of authority in education, its definition, understanding, the process of building it, and its application. Students will learn about the circumstances of effective use of authority in education in various contexts. The course will also provide students with tools to identify the interaction style of the teacher, which is one of the cornerstones of teacher authority.
Aim of the course
Last update: PhDr. Jaroslav Šaroch, Ph.D. (18.05.2023)

Students will be able to define and classify authority, recognize and interpret various approaches to authority in education. They will also be able to identify sources of teacher authority and circumstances that threaten it, seeking connections and contrasts between them. Additionally, students will be able to critically evaluate the circumstances of building and applying teacher authority. Through focus groups and the use of selected research tools (including completing and analyzing the QTI questionnaire), students will be able to assess, discuss, and propose solutions to situations related to the exercise of teacher authority.
