The aim of the course is to explore and aesthetically acquire the literary works of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Friedrich Schiller, as well as their cultural and literary milieu. Emphasised will be development of communicative skills in relation to literary and cultural themes. The content of the course consists of the analysis and interpretation of selected poetic, prose and dramatic works by the listed authors according to the Recommended reading list, or the interests of the course participants. Reception and updating of some works will also be considered, e.g. Goethe's novel Die Leiden des jungen Werther, the drama Faust (Part 1), a selection of lyric works (especially ballads). From the works of Friedrich Schiller, for example, the dramas Kabale und Liebe and Die Räuber and selected ballads. Theoretical texts will also be reflected.
