Following Text Linguistics I, this course focuses on pragmatics and discourse analysis. Special attention is paid to the ways in which spoken English is structured and adjusted to different situations and to the strategies the speakers use to convey their meanings felicitously. Students will be exposed to the patterns of conversations as well as to the pragmatic presuppositions.
