The subject provides important information on non-metallic materials that occurres naturally occurring and that are manufactured by man, their sorting, classification, application domains, technologies and principles associated with their production and processing. It gives a brief information concerning the state of technology and technological development from earliest times to the present. The main purpose of this course is to understand and the mastery of the knowledge of the technically important structural nonmetallic materials. The aim is to understand the nature of their working, to acquire basic knowledge in construction and operation of machine tools for these materials.
